The Big Bloody: Four Separate Shootings, One Death in Busy Day in STL

'Twas an especially violent day yesterday in St. Louis, with police arriving to the scenes of four separate shootings.

The most tragic incident occcured around 4 p.m. Monday in the 4800 block of St. Louis Avenue. Police report that 16-year-old Toriano Porter was leaving a north city convenience store with friends when two unknown black males came up behind them and began firing.

Porter was shot multiple times in the back and pronounced dead at the scene. One of his companions, an 18-year-old male, managed to run from the scene after being shot in the back and buttocks. A third victim -- a 22-year-old male -- was shot in the foot. Both were taken to and area hospital where they were listed in serious but stable condition. The two unknown suspects fled the scene.

Around the same time Monday afternoon a 71-year-old man was working in his garage in the 5000 block of Durant in north city when he was approached by a man described to be in his late 20s.

The suspect shot the elderly man in the chest and hand and then fled by foot. The victim was taken to a hospital and listed in serious condition.

Earlier in the afternoon -- around 3:15 p.m. -- police arrived to yet another shooting. This one in the 4000 block of Sullivan also in north city.

According to police a 16-year-old male was standing on a front porch when he heard several gunshots and saw he'd been shot in the side and wrist. Witnesses reported seeing three to five males across the street at the time of the shooting. The victim was taken to a hospital and listed in critical but stable condition.
 
A gunman also targeted a carload of people looking to buy drugs yesterday evening. Police report that the group ended up in the 900 block of Goodfellow Avenue around 7:30 p.m. There they got out of their vehicle to meet a street dealer described as a man in his late teens or early 20s.

The dealer demanded money from the group and shot a victim described as a 24-year-old white male in the neck and arm. He was taken to the hospital where his injuries were considered not to be life-threatening.

St. Louis police urge anyone with information regarding these shootings to call CrimeStoppers at 1-866-371-TIPS. Callers can remain anonymous.
