Mardi Gras: St. Louis Police Want to Remind You of a Few Things

The St. Louis police department yesterday issued a media alert on the do's and don'ts, make that the "don'ts and don'ts," of this week's Mardi Gras festivities that begin tomorrow with the Grand Parade through Soulard.

The police remind you of the following:
  • The legal age to consume alcoholic beverages is 21.

  • Undercover officers along with State Liquor Control and City Excise agents will be monitoring the area for underage drinking.

  • Anyone found to be using false identification will be cited and subject to arrest.
  • Yo, people! This is what the porta-potties are for.

    There will be portable toilets in the festival area.

  • Anyone engaging in public urination will be subject to arrest.

  • Persons engaging in lewd and indecent conduct or any other violations of the law will also be subject to arrest.

  • Person attending Mardi Gras are prohibited from bringing backpacks, coolers,
    bottles or cans into the festival area.

  • This includes both alcoholic and non-alcoholic

  • There will be perimeter checkpoints
