Sharon Vilcek, 55, allegedly became enraged at her live-in boyfriend Sunday evening stabbing him more than 40 times.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Department tells Daily RFT that Vilcek was upset to discover that her 56-year-old boyfriend may have been involved in a "relationship with a third party."

"The really troubling part of this is that the incident occurred late Sunday night and the suspect then left the home for several hours," says Lt. Dave Marshak. "She then returned to find him still alive and waited even longer to call for medical support."

Jefferson County sheriff deputies responded to the 2200 block of Paramount Drive in Fenton around 11 a.m. Monday to discover a 56-year-old man bleeding from his wounds. The sheriff's department has not yet provided the name of the victim.

Vilcek says she acted in self-defense. She's been charged with first-degree domestic assault and is being held at the Jefferson County Jail on a $750,000 cash only bond. The victim is in an area hospital where he's listed in critical condition.
