What is it with MMA all of a sudden? First it was our feature story, now comes the announcement that St. Louis will host a heavyweight championship in one of the sport's top leagues.

Strikeforce, the leading competitor to UFC, comes to the Scottrade Center on May 15. The main event will feature reigning heavyweight champion, six-foot-five, 260-pound Alistair "The Demolition Man" Overeem against Brett "The Grim" Rogers.

The fight will be broadcast on Showtime and promoted locally by Jesse Finney's Shamrock Promotions. Several local fighters are rumored to be on tap for the undercard.

Here's the full fight schedule as announced via MMAJunkie:
  • Champ Alistair Overeem vs. Brett Rogers
  • Andrei Arlovski vs. Antonio Silva
  • Lyle Beerbohm vs. Vitor "Shaolin" Ribeiro
  • Roger Gracie vs. Kevin Randlema
At his Xtreme Fight League event earlier this month, Finney hinted that locals Pat Benson, Tyron Woodley, and John Duever would be included on the card.
