Report: Suburban Journals Lays Off Seven, Others to Take One Week Furlough

According to the site Paper Cuts
, four editorial staffers and three advertising employees have been fired form the chain of suburban weeklies. The website also reports that remaining Journals employees will be required to take a one-week furlough before October 1.
Since being acquired by Lee Enterprises as part of the Post-Dispatch
purchase in 2005, the Journals
has had several rounds of layoffs
, including the firing of a reporter who took a bullet
while working for the publication.
