The Missouri Department of Natural Resources yesterday announced that six beaches within state parks are too polluted for swimming this weekend. Beaches at Mark Twain, Wakonda, Crowder, Cuivre River, St. Joe, and Thousand Hills state parks all tested for dangerously high levels of E. coli.

The closures are only the latest in which Missouri beaches have closed due to fecal contamination. Read more about the state's E. coli problems in this week's Riverfront Times' feature story: Deep Doo-Doo.
