Five Injured in Two Separate Shootings in Downtown St. Louis Today

Posted By on Mon, Jul 19, 2010 at 1:54 PM

St. Louis police are investigating two shootings today within several blocks of each other in downtown St. Louis -- one of which sent a bullet spilling into a bank where it grazed a woman.

The first shooting occurred around 12:52 this morning when three people -- described by police as black males ages 17, 19 and 20 -- were shot in a parking lot at the corner of 14th and Locust (below).

St. Louis police later pulled over a car carrying four individuals implicated in the shooting.

The victims were taken to a hospital, where the 19-year-old is being treated for a gunshot wound to the neck. The 17-year-old victim was shot in the hip, the 20-year-old victim in the thigh.

Police then responded around 10:15 a.m. to another shooting, this one at 11th and Cole, where a 16-year-old was shot by two suspects. One of the stray bullets from that shooting entered the U.S. Bank at 1005 Convention Plaza (above), where a bullet grazed a woman inside the bank. She sustained minor injuries and did not require a trip to the hospital.

St. Louis police spokeswoman Katie Sullivan tells Daily RFT that, other than the woman hit by a stray bullet, the shootings do not appear to be random. In both other cases, the victims and the suspects likely knew each other.
