The man found to have a gun and at least $250,000 in cash in the trunk of his Dodge Charger after a police chase Tuesday, has been charged with federal weapons charges.

John Wesley Jones, 36, has not -- at this point -- been charged with the theft of as much as $11 million from ATM Solutions, a Midtown St. Louis company robbed Monday morning by four heavily armed men.

Jones was arrested in St. Louis in 2002 (mugshot from that arrest appears here) for marijuana and possession of a gun. He's also had run-ins with the law in Louisville, Kentucky. In 2002 he attempted to break out of jail and ended up spending several years behind bars.

In a statement to media yesterday, the FBI said of Jones: "Any possible charges against Jones in the robbery of ATM Solutions Inc. will be determined by the U.S. Attorney after the FBI and the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department complete its investigation."

Also yesterday, the Cincinnati-based ATM Solutions put up a $150,000 award for information leading to the arrest, conviction and recovery of the money.
