Jim Edmonds Now a Red

Q: What's worse than seeing Jim Edmonds in a Milwaukee Brewer uniform?

A: Seeing him in a Cincinnati Red uniform!

Although, to be fair, neither is as painful as watching Jimmy Baseball play for the Cubs, so this at least isn't the worst iteration of Jim Edmonds I've been forced to witness over the past few years.

Still...say it ain't so, Hollywood. Say it ain't so.

That's right, sports fans, everyone's favourite former Cardinal centerfield great (or maybe just my favorite, I don't know), Jim Edmonds, is headed to the Cincinnati Reds. Walt Jocketty is clearly continuing his rather odd plot to take revenge on the redbirds by recruiting as many ghosts as possible, and Jimmy continues his inexplicable comeback tour of National League Central teams. (He has played for four teams since leaving the Cardinals; three of them are in the NL Central. How odd is that?)

Unfortunately, this is a smart move by Jocketty, as Edmonds has been a very nice contributor - albeit in a fairly limited capacity - this season for the Brewers, and will give the Reds an upgrade off the bench.

I'll be honest with you: this move really, really pisses me off. I already despise the Cincinnati Reds, and now watching my favourite Cardinal of the 2000s help them win a division title over the Cards just might be the straw that broke the camel's back.

So if you hear a news report later this evening or really anytime during the series in Cincy of a gunman on top of a roof downtown who appears to be weeping copiously and is completely naked apart from what is thought to be a tattered Jim Edmonds jersey, at least you'll have a pretty good idea of who it is.
