The National Weather Service has confirmed that nine twisters struck ground in and around St. Louis around mid-day December 31.

The tornadoes destroyed several homes in Robertsville and Sunset Hills. In St. Louis an EF-1 twister with winds between 80 and 100 m.p.h. carved a path (right) through north St. Louis that tore apart roofs and damaged trees.

In total, the storms New Year's Eve killed 4 people in Missouri.

P.S. St. Louis County will do its monthly test of  its tornado sirens today. St. Louis County police remind the public that it is only a test.
