St. Louis Police: Man Found Dead After New Year's Eve Fire Had Been Beaten to Death

St. Louis police believe that the person found dead in a fire inside a vacant home on New Year's Eve was killed prior to the blaze. Firefighters discovered the body of an unknown male after putting out a fire around 7 a.m. December 31 in the 3800 block of Cottage Avenue (below).

Police say the victim found in an upstairs bedroom likely died of blunt trauma to the head. And investigation is ongoing.
