Comment of the Day: Being Stupid Is a God-Given Right

Posted By on Mon, Mar 14, 2011 at 4:00 PM

Today's comment comes in response to Chad Garrison's post "Are Tip Jars Dangerous? Lawsuit vs. Starbucks Says Yes." The post described how Edward Kreutz filed a lawsuit after his son, Roger, died while chasing a thug trying to steal the tip jar a local Starbucks.

Garrison's post has triggered a fair amount of controversy, with some readers arguing that Kreutz Sr. is an asshole -- and others arguing that Garrison is an asshole for suggesting such lawsuits give people a good excuse not to tip.

The latest comment is from Cara, who writes,

Your right; it is our God given right to sue. And unfortunatly being stupid is a God given right. I say let Starbucks decide on the tip jar. It is their business and their God given right to have it there. You don't want to tip, then don't. The tip jar did NOT cause this man's death. We need more honorable people like this man, Roger Kreutz and less liberal attorneys like William Green from Clayton, MO. We need to start holding people accountable, because the law isn't. We have minimal punishment for crimes. It is good to see that most replies on here feel this lawsuit is frivolous. Mr Edward Kruetz I am sorry for your son's death. My prayers are for your family, but please come to your senses and see how wrong this is.
