  • August A. Busch IV will be leaving the board of the company he used to run.
This just in: August Busch IV, whose girlfriend died after a drug overdose at his Huntleigh estate in December, is leaving the board of the company once known as Anheuser-Busch -- a company his family ran from the 1860s until 2008.

We read the news over at our favorite gossip site, Punching Kitty; they apparently got it from Bloomberg News.

Bloomberg's source is apparently the newly released agenda for beer conglomerate AB's April shareholders meeting. It shows two new members will be voted onto the board of the Belgium-based company -- which apparently means the writing's on the wall for St. Louis' very own bad beer baron.

Busch's girlfriend, Adrienne Martin, was found dead in his bedroom December 19. The coroner's report showed that Martin had used oxycodone and cocaine prior to her death; Busch refused to cooperate with the investigation, and St. Louis County Prosecutor Bob McCulloch closed the case without filing charges.

Busch was previously linked to the death of a young woman in Tucson; he did not face charges in that incident, either.

The Post-Dispatch previously reported that Busch earned $93,000 for serving on the AB board in 2010, yet only attended one of nine board meetings.
