University City council members got an earful last night from business owners along the Delmar Loop.

As KMOX reports, the owners of Ciceros, Fitz's and other Loop businesses told the council that large groups of teenagers are scaring away paying customers. In the past three weeks, the teens have been blamed for a shooting in a Loop parking lot and an assault on a police officer.

Last year the University City council passed a 9 p.m. curfew for teens 16 and under in the Loop. The year before that, the council passed a similar curfew barring the teenagers from being in the Loop after 10 p.m.

What's next? The city is now reviewing its curfew hours and the age restrictions it places on teenagers. Tougher curfews could be on the way, as could stricter enforcement through additional police and surveillance cameras.
