Wendell Adams: St. Louis Homicide No. 65, Murdered in Home in Benton Park

Posted By on Thu, Jun 23, 2011 at 3:33 PM

St. Louis police say a man found injured in his home in Benton Park on Sunday who has since died was likely a victim of foul play.

A relative discovered Wendell Adams, 48, lying on the floor of his kitchen and bleeding from the head around 1:30 p.m. on June 19. EMS ferried him from his home in the 1900 block of Sidney (above) to an area hospital where he died on Tuesday.

An autopsy has now revealed his injuries -- first suspected to have been caused by a fall -- were the result of blunt force trauma to the head.

Homicide investigators have now taken up the case. This morning two crime lab trucks were parked outside Adams home.

Witnesses last reported seeing Adams around 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. His injury could have occurred anytime between then and Sunday at 1:30 p.m.
