According to police, the incident occurred around 3:50 p.m. in the 1300 block of Semple. Lance Branscomb, 26, was inside his friends truck when he was shot in the side and the chest.

His friend -- described only as 26-year-old black male -- was shot in the legs but managed to run from the scene and flag down help. He arrived by car to the hospital where he's listed in critical condition.

Branscomb, of the 1900 block of Belt, wasn't as fortunate. He was pronounced dead after arriving at the hospital.
