St. Louis County police have arrested one man in connection to a shooting yesterday in Jennings that left a fourteen-year-old girl in critical condition with bullet wound to the face.

According to police, the girl was with a group of seven to ten juveniles walking home from school along Hord Avenue yesterday when a SUV pulled alongside the group around 3:30 p.m. and someone inside the vehicle began firing.

Jared Britton was walking with the group of juveniles and pulled out his own weapon to return fire. Britton, seventeen, of the 2200 block of Switzer in Jennings, was charged today with one count of discharging a firearm at a motor vehicle and is currently being held on a $50,000 bond.

Police say they have identified some suspects in the SUV and are developing more leads. Investigators believe one or more of the suspects in the SUV may have had a feud with an individual walking in the group and that the female victim was not the intended target.

We have a call out to the police department to ask whether Britton is believed to have been one of the targets.
