The presumptive Anaheim Angels first baseman told ESPNDeportes.com that he intends to report to spring training a week earlier than position players are scheduled, because "For the last 12 years I've lived in the city of St. Louis, where it's cold ... I'm going to try to get there (Tempe, Arizona) a week early to get used to the weather."

All right, I'll let that "I lived in the city of St. Louis" comment slide, even though he lived in Creve Couer, because we've already been through enough grief with Pujols' address. No, my gripe is with this whole weather acclimation thing.

Pujols made his fan-pleasing statement from his actual home in the Dominican Republic. Is there a huge difference between the weather in the Dominican Republic in February and Tempe? No. Temperatures in the DR range from 70 to 82 degrees Fahrenheit right now; in Tempe, the average is 42 to 73 degrees.

In Jupiter, Florida, where the Cards will assemble for spring training, average temperatures for the month are 59 to 77 degrees.

So if recent history holds true, despite what he tells Anaheim's fans, Pujols will report to Jupiter because it has higher numbers -- and you know how he loves his big numbers.
