Howard E. Spracher, a 67-year-old white man, was found unresponsive by police in his home in the 3800 block of Labadie Avenue in the Greater Ville Neighborhood last night after 10 p.m. Officers noted that Spracher had visible injuries on his body and appeared malnourished. He was transported to a hospital, but it was too late -- he was pronounced dead.

Police have one suspect in custody, a 48-year-old black woman who has not been officially identified, nor has she officially been charged with anything. She was responsible for Spracher's care, and was not in the home when police arrived. The investigation continues.
