Escaped Mizzou Cow Was a Crazy Campus Sensation! As It Ran for Its Life

Posted By on Tue, Jun 26, 2012 at 9:55 AM

If you just watch this little video, or read the real-time Twitter remarks at #MizzouCow, you may think, "Oh how silly, and how very Missouri! A cow tore through Mizzou's campus last week! Tra-la-la ha-ha-ho!"

Reality is darker than that, friend:

This steer had escaped from an abbatoir. Do you know what that means? That means "slaughterhouse." So this wasn't a naughty frat boy whimsically frolicking 'round the quad with his bits & bobs hanging out. This was a 1,300-pound animal with nothing left to lose.

It literally broke one guy's face, and damaged two police cars.

Cops tried to tranquilize it, but it didn't work. So they shot it.

That was the end of MizzouCow.
