[UPDATE: Police have cleared the building. The device found in the basement is part of a Halloween costume left behind by a former resident of the home and is not a bomb. There is no threat to the public. Original post follows.]

Several reports are circulating that a bomb has been found in the basement of a home in Tower Grove South. "It could be a bomb in the basement of a vacant building," police spokesman David Marzullo told the Post-Dispatch.

The police department's bomb squad is apparently preparing to enter a house in the 4000 block of Oleatha Avenue.

We'll keep you posted as the story develops.
