There are some lessons that no parent wants their child to learn hard way, such as "How to Not Get Shot in the Face."

That's why a father in St. Joseph took a moment with his eleven-year-old son to teach him about gun safety on Friday evening.

But then he accidentally shot him in the face.

They were in a bedroom, cleaning guns and planning a hunting trip, according to the News-Press, when the gun went off.

The boy was only a few feet away. The bullet ostensibly traveled through his hand and lodged into his jaw.

The boy was reportedly able to walk into the ambulance but was airlifted to a Kansas City hospital.
