Often, ex-lovers fight.

Less often do those fights involve assault rifles and brief police stand-offs.

Rashidi Greer, a 21-year-old from Hazelwood, was arrested Sunday on multiple charges that he shot at his ex-girlfriend with a assault rifle.

It was midday on Sunday when a police officer happened to be in the neighborhood, investigating an unrelated matter near the 8400 block of Latty in Hazelwood.

He heard a single gunshot, then made contact with a female who wasn't hurt, but said that Greer, her ex, had just fired an assault rifle at her during a domestic dispute.

Greer was seen running into his house, so law enforcers from Hazelwood, Berkley and the Missouri Highway Patrol set up a perimeter around the residence. They contacted Greer on his cell phone and after a brief stand-off, arrested him without incident.

Greer has been charged with domestic assault, unlawful use of a weapon, armed criminal action and possession of drug paraphernalia.
