Daniel J. Fulkerson has confessed he grew lots of pot -- at least 100 plants, in fact, down in Gallatin County, Illinois.

The 39-year-old from Ridgeway pleaded guilty yesterday in federal court to one count of manufacturing marijuana plants -- which he did between April and August of this year -- and another count of conspiracy to do so.

He'll be sentenced on April 11 at the U.S. Courthouse in Benton, Illinois, according to the U.S. Attorney.

Fulkerson could get anywhere from five to 40 years behind bars, a maximum of a $5 million fine, and at least four years (and maybe the rest of life) on supervised release.

Fulkerson has been held without bond since September, at which time the government sought to lock him up because he was "a danger to the community," according to court records.

Marijuana is a Schedule 1 controlled substance under federal law -- in the same league as heroin, Ecstasy and peyote (at least in the government's eyes).
