Instead of literally opening fire on gun control bills, why not just ban them all together? This is the thinking behind a new Missouri gun bill introduced yesterday with a pretty simple message: If you propose a gun control measure, you will be guilty of a class D felony.

Take that, Democrats!

It's like Missouri's block-every-Obama-gun-measure bill...taken to a whole new level.

What does Representative Mike Leara, the bill's backer, have to say about his plan?

Not a whole lot.

Someone on his staff tells Daily RFT that he is not giving interviews on the bill at this time. But his office did pass us his short statement regarding the introduction of House Bill 633:

I filed HB 633 as a matter of principle and as a statement in defense of the Second Amendment rights of all Missourians. I have no illusions about the bill making it through the legislative process, but I want it to be clear that the Missouri House will stand in defense of the people's Constitutional right to keep and bear arms.

The actual legislation is one of the shortest ones we've seen so far this session. It says:

Any member of the general assembly who proposes a piece of legislation that further restricts the right of an individual to bear arms, as set forth under the second amendment of the Constitution of the United States, shall be guilty of a class D felony.

Bipartisanship, y'all.

Here's the Twitter response from Democratic Representative Stacey Newman, who has proposed a background check bill and has been outspoken in favor of stricter gun policies.

And here's the full draft bill.
