Ballwin Police: Johanna Walker, 81, Shoots, Kills Son After He Attacks Her with Large Knife

Ballwin police say that Johanna Walker, 81, shot and killed her 41-year-old son last night after he attacked her with a large fixed-blade knife.

Brian Walker sustained gunshot wounds to the upper torso, police say, and was pronounced dead just before 2 a.m. at Mercy Hospital.

Johanna Walker also sustained injuries and as of this morning, officials say, is still being treated at the hospital.

Ballwin police say they were called to the scene at 1:04 a.m. this morning for reports of a shooting at a residence on the 700 block of Clayworth Drive. When they arrived, they made contact with Johanna Walker who had called the police.

She was suffering from a wound on her right hand. Her son was also inside the residence and police observed that he had been shot in the upper torso. They both went to the hospital and police say no one else was home.

Statements from Johanna indicated that her son, Brian had attacked and injured her with a large knife. When he came at her a second time, she shot him twice in the upper torso. A large fixed-blade knife and a revolver were seized from the residence.

Injuries the mother suffered are not life-threatening, police say.

At 1:04 AM on this date, our Department received a call for a shooting which occurred at a residence in the 700 block of Clayworth Drive. Upon arrival, we contacted the caller, Johanna Walker (81 years of age) who had a wound on her right hand. Inside the residence was a second victim, Brian Walker (41 years of age) had sustained gunshot wounds to the upper torso. No one else was in the residence.

Both subjects were transported to Mercy Hospital. Brian Walker was pronounced dead at 1:58 AM. Johanna Walker was admitted and is still being treated. Her injury is not thought to be life threatening.

Statements from Johanna indicated that her son, Brian had attacked and injured her with a large knife. When he came at her a second time, she shot him twice in the upper torso. A large fixed-blade knife and a revolver were seized from the residence.

Ballwin Detectives are still investigating this incident.
