St. Louis police have arrested two men in connection with the shooting that left a twelve-year-old girl injured over the weekend -- but the suspects did not make it easy.

Antonio Witherspoon, twenty, and Larry Thomas, nineteen, are both facing charges of first-degree assault and armed criminal action for a shootout that ended up hitting the young girl playing in a Carr Square park early Sunday evening. Police say she was hit in the hand and taken to the hospital in serious condition.

The two men look quite different from the widely distributed surveillance photo, because, police say, they both cut off their long dreadlocks before they were arrested.

Both suspects were apprehended at an apartment in the 1000 block of Suntree Drive in St. Louis county.

It's unclear who fired the shot that hit the girl.

Police say the shooting happened at around 7:50 p.m. at the 1500 block of Carr Street, by Loretta Hall Park.

The two suspects, according to witnesses, were "yelling and shooting at each other" when one of the bullets hit the girl. The two fled on foot.

Witherspoon, who lives on the 1200 block of North 8th Street, has a bond set at $100,000 cash-only and Thomas, who lives on the 10000 block of Baron Drive, has a bond set at $80,000 cash-only.

Here's the full SLMPD incident report.
