8:51 Update: It was a hoax.

St. Louis County Police say a young mother pretended she and her baby were kidnapped today so she could skip town without her family stopping her. The ruse sparked a multi-agency manhunt that included the FBI and police forces here and in Tennessee before she and the baby were found in Nashville.

ashville detectives she staged the abduction, sending her cousin harrowing text messages that made it sound like she and her son were being held by two men.

"After reviewing the circumstances surrounding the case, no charges are likely, and the abduction will be classified as unfounded," St. Louis police said in a statement.

Update: A missing one-year-old and his mother were found safe tonight in Nashville. Police haven't released any further details about how they got there or the circumstances of their discovery. The St. Louis County Police Department's Bureau of Crimes Against Persons is working with Tennessee cops on the investigation.

A baby boy and his mother were reportedly abducted from north St. Louis County — and cops want your help to find them.

Dyland Rosa, 1, and Diana Berrios-Pimentel were last seen about 1 p.m. today at her cousin’s house, authorities said. Berrios-Pimentel, who moved a month ago to St. Louis from Texas, sent a text message to her cousin about two suspicious men in a car circling their neighbor. Shortly after, the cousin got another text message that said Berrios-Pimentel and the baby were safe, but they wouldn’t be released until certain demands were met, police said.

No one ever described the demands, and the mother and child haven’t been seen since, police said.

Berrios-Pimentel had gotten into a "domestic situation" while living in Texas with her boyfriend and moved to St. Louis as a result, police said.

An Amber alert was issued on Thursday. Witnesses told police they’d seen a tan or gold sedan, maybe a Honda Accord, with Georgia license plates. One of the men reportedly had been wearing a white fishing hat. The missing mother and child are both Hispanic with brown hair and brown eyes. Berrios-Pimentel is five-foot-one and weighs 85 pounds.
