The Riverfront Times is seeking interns to join our small, feisty staff beginning in January 2016.

We're looking for smart, self-motivated college students who are interested in exploring a career in journalism and aren't afraid to pick up the phone and ask strangers impertinent questions. Our interns don't fetch us coffee and they don't pick up our drycleaning. Instead, they work closely with our editors to cover stories — this semester, that's ranged from a party planner's growing business to a nifty urban farm, from a profile of a local graphic novelist to news about a new record store

Next semester, we're looking for interns to assist with news, photography and music, so if you think you have what it takes, send a resume and cover letter telling us a bit about yourself and your journalistic interests to sarah.fenske@riverfronttimes.com. Please include at least three writing samples (or, in the case of our photography candidates, photo samples). Ideally, these will be stories from a campus newspaper or other publication, but we'll take any samples that show clear, concise writing or killer photographic composition.

Oh, and you must be capable of getting to and from our office in the Delmar Loop — as well as receiving course credit for your time here with us. We're flexible on hours; our interns typically average about 12 hours a week.

We welcome tips and feedback. Email the author at sarah.fenske@riverfronttimes.com
