Even MoDOT Is Getting Into the Star Wars Spirit

The Missouri Department of Transportation is apparently as excited about the new Star Wars film as the rest of us — with a new billboard that quotes Darth Vader.

We first spotted the message Wednesday evening on I-64 heading eastbound, just past the Grand Avenue exit. "I Find Your Lack of Seatbelt Disturbing," it says.

A friend spotted another Star Wars-themed sign on I-44 yesterday around Sullivan. "Drinking and Driving Leads to the Dark Side," it instructs.

This reminds us of the news out of Arizona a few weeks ago. The Department of Transportation there put up an announcement riffing on the New York Times' infamously pea-studded guacamole recipe: "Drinking and driving go together like peas and guac." Amusing, these bureaucrats are.

So far, though, we haven't spotted the one Star Wars road sign we're dying to see, and that's the one featuring a quote from Admiral Ackbar: "IT"S A TRAP!" We'd suggest they position it in Charlack.
