  • A St. Louis man killed his mother and stepfather before committing suicide early Tuesday morning, police say.
An early morning slaughter in north St. Louis was a suicide and double murder, police say.

Kenneth Murray, 44, killed his mother, 60-year-old Eunice Cain, and his stepfather, 59-year-old Reginald Wilkes, before shooting himself in the Walnut Park West neighborhood, police say. The area is near Calvary Cemetery in the northwest part of the city.

Officers went to the victims' home in the 5500 block of Era Avenue at 3:50 a.m. and discovered all three dead inside. Police recovered two guns from the grisly scene.

Murray lived in the 4200 block of Penrose Street. He has a rap sheet that dates back to the early 1990s and includes convictions for attempted robbery, armed criminal action and violating orders of protection.

He was arrested last fall on suspicion of trespassing and third-degree assault. Charges were still pending in that case.
