  • St. Louis Police survey a crime scene. Officers are now investigating the carjacking of an SUV previously reported stolen.

An SUV reported stolen out of Greene County over the weekend was stolen again yesterday during a carjacking in north St. Louis, police say.

City cops responded shortly after 6:30 p.m. to the reported carjacking at the intersection of West Florissant and Partridge avenues, which is across the street from Calvary Cemetery.

The driver claimed he was sitting in the 2008 Chevrolet HHR with two other guys, described as "acquaintances" in the police report, when they pulled guns on him. He told police that one of the passengers pistol whipped him in the face while the other stole money out of his pocket.

The two carjackers then yanked him out of the small SUV and drove off, he told police.

"The victim added that he did not own the vehicle, and that it belonged to a friend," police said in a summary of the incident.

They soon learned the Chevy had already been reported stolen on Saturday from Greene County, about 260 miles to the southwest of St. Louis. A spokesman for the Greene County Sheriff's Office didn't immediately return a phone call this morning.

St. Louis police say the driver suffered a minor cut and refused medical attention.
