Sophie Rain is still dominating the internet, and once again, she’s turned generosity into the hottest new content drop. She’s 21, hot af, rich enough to purchase her own little town a la pre-revolutionary French aristocracy, but has decided instead to cultivate the kind of generosity that you’d expect from a benevolent old-world duchess tossing coins to villagers, not a digital powerhouse who easily makes seven figures before her coffee cools.

For the maybe 5 people reading this who don’t know who Sophie Rain is, she’s an angel-faced OnlyFans superstar who was raised on food stamps in Florida. When she was fired from her minimum-wage waitress job, she tried OnlyFans at the suggestion of a cousin and became an instant internet sensation. She’s sitting on an estimated $35 million net worth, with one fan alone tipping her over $5 million in the span of one year. The most impressive part of Rain’s empire is that she’s built that much wealth without going nude or losing her virginity. She’s a devout Christian, making it extra unique that she’s one of the top-earning adult entertainers of all time. She really went about her business as though she heard an order from the Almighty that said “make Proverbs meet Paywalls.”

Sophie Rain hasn’t been shy about sharing that she grew up broke, on government assistance in Florida. Her family didn’t have a lot of extra to give, so a Barbie Dreamhouse was never going to happen. Now, however, she could buy herself a decent stake in Mattel, should she choose to do so, but she’s choosing instead to spend her money on others in similar straits to how she was raised. Where most millionaires buy themselves a do-over at youth, Rain is making sure that other people get to have a childhood in the first place.

Sophie’s most recent round of radical generosity involved an Angel Tree and a Walmart. She went and grabbed all of the remaining tags on an Angel Tree (children whose families need help making Christmas happen for their little ones), and then bought out everything on the lists. Clothes, toys, necessities, a few things she wanted but couldn’t have as a child; the whole shebang. She casually posted the footage like it was an nbd coffee run, and the internet did what the internet does. Half of the commenters are applauding her actions, and the other half are curious about why a top-earning OnlyFans creator is outdoing most other major donors. Again. Like… imagine being a pastor and finding out that your church’s holiday outreach (that you had to beg well-off parishioners to show up for) was out-charitied by a 21-year-old who became a millionaire by selling selfies taken in soft pink light on OnlyFans.

Let’s take a look, shall we, at Sophie’s philanthropic résumé. Working backwards, we have her appearance as the Grocery Run Guardian Angel. During the government shutdown, she put out a call on Twitter for anyone who was struggling to buy food due to the shutdown to let her know so she could help. She sent money via Venmo to Twitter users who let her know that they didn’t know how to pay for the next grocery trip. Next up, we have Gooning for Good, Rain’s birthday campaign that benefitted Feeding America. On her birthday, she donated the entire day’s OnlyFans earnings to Feeding America. Fans participated by buying extra content because, hey. It was for charity! She turned thousands of gooners into accidental philanthropists for 24 hours. And before that, there was her $1 million donation to MrBeast’s Team Water endeavor. Team Water’s mission was to expand access to clean drinking water, and since just $1 goes a long way, her casually dropping 1 million of those was… well. It was no small thing.

Rain has built an established history of using her wealth to make the world better for people who have no means to do so for themselves. She didn’t grow up wealthy, and her empathy comes from lived experience, not theorizing what it might mean to do something for someone else. Her audience is built of all kinds, but a large swath of chronically online young people are following her, viewing her style of giving as the standard for someone with that kind of disposable income. Given that Rain has never shied away from her identity as a Christian… it’s just refreshing to see someone with the means to do so actually following the directive to care for the less fortunate. Yes, even though she’s a content creator. Didn’t Jesus himself hang out with sex workers? Idk, it’s been a minute since I’ve seen the inside of a Bible.

Sophie Rain isn’t perfect, no one is. But she’s being aggressively generous, and she’s making it feel like a contagious condition worth catching. Plenty of people with that kind of money never spend it on anyone else, and here she’s role-playing Santa (sans the kinky angle). If a 21-year-old Christian virgin on OnlyFans is out-giving elected officials and religious leaders (looking at you, Olsteen), then maybe we’ve all been looking for examples of hope and goodness in the wrong places. Sophie Rain’s been up to her usual tricks, and I for one think we should let the lady work.
