Ignite Theatre Company presents Let's Dance!: a partner dance intensive for performers ages 13-20 including styles of pas de deux, swing, salsa, and more! This free workshop will be held May 9-25, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays, at Ignite's rehearsal space (3510 Giles Avenue, St. Louis, MO, 63116), and will culminate with a showcase on May 25th in which the students will perform choreographed pieces demonstrating what they've learned. This intensive is designed for triple threat actors who want to refine their skills and improve their audition technique. Participants focus on the performance of songs from a range of styles, learn how to manage a musical theatre dance call by learning technique and vocabulary; and select and rehearse four contrasting monologues to use at future auditions. Zines are both a focused way to explore studio art and a great outlet for personal views to become communal information. Using a field trip to the Zine Collection at the St. Louis Public Library as inspiration, participants choose subject matter as the focus for their work. Participants experiment with a variety of materials to express personal views through visuals and text. Mediums may include drawing, printmaking, collage, mixed media, photography and photomontage. Each participant also learns saddle book binding to complete their zine and will leave with a copy of their work to add to their portfolio. $330.00
