Saint Louis Ballet opens its 2017-2018 season with Giselle, a hauntingly beautiful ballet that’s in the repertoire of all the world’s top ballet companies. Re-staged by Saint Louis Ballet’s Artistic Director Gen Horiuchi, it is considered to be the greatest Romantic ballet of all time. Giselle is a peasant girl who, upon discovering her lover is betrothed to another, dies of a broken heart. But a group of supernatural women, the “Wilis”, summon her from the grave and target her lover for death. Giselle’s great love frees him from their grasp. $34-$59

After receiving a replica of French artist Edgar Degas’ famous sculpture, The Little Dancer, for her birthday, Mary is transported back to the moment when the original was unveiled. Much to her surprise, it is ridiculed, prompting Degas to lock the sculpture in a closet never to be seen again! Mary rescues The Little Dancer, who comes to life, and together, they explore the streets and venues of Paris in this fanciful, newly imagined production. Gen Horiuchi’s The Nutcracker has become a Saint Louis favorite with dazzling costumes, sets and special effects.The holiday favorite is performed to the traditional Tchaikovsky score.
