Opening Reception & Artist Talk: Friday, March 1, 5:30-7:30pm Exhibit runs March 1 - April 24 Spanish documentary photographer Griselda San Martin has focused on the issues of immigration, deportation, inequality and human rights abuses at the US-Mexico border through an optic of identity and belonging. Her current emphasis is on the growing Hispanic community in the United States and the sociopolitical implications of reactionary narratives depicting immigrants and ethnic minorities. She explores the transnational life and practices that link individuals & families across political boundaries. Americana / Singer-Songwriter - Although based in Missouri, Bombara has spent much of her adulthood on the road, carving out her own award-winning mix of contemporary folk and electric heartland-rock. Her songs live in the same world as greats like Petty and Dylan; Gillian and Joni, and grow up like trees drawing nourishment from their roots music. But she never, ever sounds like the "typical" artist who claims these influences; Bombara to zig where someone else might zag, making harder or gentler turns, brushing up against jazz or taking rock toward its fulfillment. 314-455-1090
