Two "absorbing, amusing" "witty, bizarre" "just plain weird" short plays by Mickle Maher. Two acclaimed Midnight Co. revivals. APOLOGY/FAUSTUS gives us Faustus on his final night apologizing for not standing up to evil, in the person of Mephistopheles. (Part of FAUSTival). THE HUNCHBACK VARIATIONS is a panel discussion with Beethoven and The Hunchback of Notre Dame trying to create Chekhov's illusive stage direction from The Cherry Orchard. A brilliant meditation on creative collaboration. $15

The Book of Moron

Thursdays-Saturdays, 8-10 p.m. Continues through Sept. 23
phone 314-534-1111

Robert Dubac’s newest Off-Broadway hit The Book Of Moron has been described as one of the most hilarious, intelligent and scorching satirical attacks on idiocracy since Mark Twain. Having been brainwashed by a culture that worships the Kardashians over character, delusion over truth, and selfies over self-effacement, Dubac begins his journey with a simple question: Who am I? What do I believe? What’s the point? Okay, that’s three questions but suffice to say, he has no answers. Just voices. Inner voices who come to life with precision and wit! $25 with promo code PLAZA

The Zombies of Penzance

Starts Sept. 27. Thursdays-Saturdays, 8-10:15 p.m. Continues through Oct. 20
phone 314-534-1111
info@newlinetheatre.com

New Line Theatre, “the bad boy of musical theatre,” has shocked the music world by discovering a long-lost first draft by the legendary British team of librettist W.S. Gilbert and composer Arthur Sullivan. The team's best known work, The Pirates of Penzance, originally debuted in New York in 1879. What we now know is that there was an earlier, stranger draft of the show, which nobody knew about until now. In 2013, artistic director Scott Miller discovered the original manuscripts and set about reconstructing the bizarre original show as G&S intended. $10-30
