The St. Louis Writers; Group presents a End of Year Party and Monologue Competition at 6:30 Monday, December 17th at Big Daddy’s- Soulard. Big Daddy’s is located at 1000 Sydney Street. Bring an original monologue that is 90 seconds to five minutes long. Prepare to read it yourself or have an actor friend read it for you. The only very loose guideline is that your monologue should somehow be related to the winter/holiday season. Admission is free. Riverbend Public Art

Riverbend, a public art installation, opens at the Gateway Arch National Park September 22, 2-5pm with activity for kids and adults, the Sappington Creek Bluegrass Band and food trucks. The 100-foot-long artwork, made of silver, mirror-like material that references the Arch, shows the navigable Missouri River, highlighting it as the primary means of Westward Expansion and Gateway to the West for Lewis and Clark and many others. Riverbend will represent the confluence with the Mississippi on the east and extend westward. Artist Margaret Keller won the Critical Mass for the Visual Arts Public Works Project commission to create this artwork. Free

Zeuler Lima's Found in Translation

The Bonsack Gallery opens Zeuler Lima’s "Found in Translation" with a reception on Friday, November 30 from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. The exhibition is an abridged version of Lima’s recent solo show at the Brazilian Embassy in Tokyo. Through drawings and conceptual artworks — ranging from traditional sketchbooks to three-dimensional objects, and from artist’s books to multiple panels — the exhibition explores the translation, limits and overlaps among different cultural and artistic sensibilities. "Found in Translation" runs through January 16, 2019. The Bonsack Gallery is a not-for-profit educational gallery on the campus of John Burroughs School. Free
