Hal Poth: Off the Wall is a showcase of some of Poth’s best works from the collection donated to the Regional Arts Commission of St. Louis (RAC) from Poth’s estate. This exhibition will give a sense of the wide range of subject matter and creative approaches Poth chose to explore during his lifetime. It will also provide a platform for discussing ageing and creativity, exploring the capacity for imagination and innovation throughout every stage of life. All artwork will be available for purchase. In a world fascinated and obsessed with height, flight, and constant progress, St. Louis artist Vaughn T. Davis, Jr. responds by calling attention to the idea, mechanics and feeling of ascension. For his first site-specific installation in the city, Davis has created a collection of vibrant geometric forms characterized by his signature cut out, frayed, ripped, shredded and sliced surface treatments of flatly pigmented and unprimed large-scale canvases.
