St. Louis Renaissance Festival

If the modern world has you down, you could always escape to the past in Wentzville. The St. Louis Renaissance Festival is back in action from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday through October 14 at Rotary Park (2577 West Meyer Road, Wentzville; www.stlrenfest.com), celebrating the better qualities of the sixteenth century. There are knightly jousts daily at 11:30 a.m., 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., wandering performers, a royal court with no power to screw up anyone's life, belly dancers, pirates and giant turkey legs to gnaw on. This weekend (September 22 and 23) is Celtic Festival, with kilt contests, beard competitions, a "bonny knees" competition for, yes, the bonniest knees and a William Wallace costume contest. Admission is $10.95 to $19.95. $10.95-$19.95

The Lake St. Louis BeerFest at The Meadows takes place Saturday, September 22nd from 3-7pm. Sponsored by Krey Distributing, the event will have 11 sampling tents of craft and domestic beers from area-wide beer makers. Beer sampling is free. Patrons must be 21+ to sample or purchase beer. Bottled beer will be available for purchase at $5 at a 24-foot long bar. That 80's Band will perform on the Meadows Clocktower stage throughout the event. Two concurrent exhibits will be on display at St. Charles Community College from Sept. 4-29. ‘Mixed’ is a multimedia invitational art exhibit focusing on mixed media artwork by nine established and emerging artists from the St. Louis region, including Bruce Alves, Brent Becker, Joe Chesla, Tim Hahn, Ruth Kolker, Amy Reidel, Allana Ross, Kathie Thomas and Timothy Wagner. ‘These Sacred Days’ features the recent photographs of SCC professor Kathleen Sanker. An opening reception will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12. The exhibition is free and open to the public. Free

St. Charles Community College’s Center Stage Theatre will present My Three Angels Sept. 26-30 in the Donald D. Shook Fine Arts Building theater on the SCC campus.
