NASA fellow and Washington University scientist Michael Bouchard will present a talk about St. Louis’ role in the past, present and future Mars rovers and explorations. This indoor talk will be held in the Education Classroom inside the Arch Visitor Center, rain or shine. Outdoor telescope viewing led by the St. Louis Astronomical Society will follow, weather permitting. Mars will have its closest approach to Earth since 2003. Visitors are to meet in the Education Classroom inside the Arch Visitor Center. Free

The Gateway Arch Park Foundation and National Blues Museum are bringing Blues at the Arch – a free concert series featuring local, regional and national blues artists – to the newly renovated Gateway Arch National Park. Taking place Fridays in August, the four-week concert series kicks off Friday, August 3 in the North Gateway (the north end of Gateway Arch National Park, near Laclede’s Landing), which features a natural amphitheater and stunning backdrops of the Arch and the historic Eads Bridge. The series continues August 10, 17 and 24. All events will take place from 6-9 p.m. FREE
