B. Halls, located in O'Fallon off Highway K near O'Fallon Road, has been combining family atmosphere with night life for the past ten years. During the day, B. Halls is a regular stop for soccer teams and families, especially on Tuesdays when kids eat free. But at night, B. Halls is a hot spot for drinkers in their 20s and early 30s, who flock here for the convivial scene, the darts and the exceptionally long happy hour -- which lasts from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday, only to begin again at 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Happy hour includes $3.99 Jack Daniels cocktails, $3 wells, $3 house margaritas, $2 domestic bottles, $1.50 domestic drafts, and selected appetizers for $5.49. Domestic pitchers are $4.75 all day Monday, Saturday and Sunday. B. Halls is best known for its hot wings, which have won first place in the Wing Ding competition five years in a row.
Well-known local chef Bill Cardwell (Cardwell's at the Plaza) and his business partner and executive chef John Kennealy bring modern city dining to the exurbs. Handsome and smoothly run, BC's Kitchen offers generous portions of typical New American bistro fare - short ribs, pork chops, roasted chicken - all of it prepared with the utmost attention to detail. The St. Louis-cut spare ribs are a highlight, the meat more than flavorful enough to stand up to a smoky, tangy barbecue sauce. And Cardwell crafts one of the best burgers in town, with blue and cheddar cheese, bacon and a spicy-sweet tomato relish far superior to ketchup.
The O'Fallon location of this "sports cafe" serves up similar favorites to its Florissant sister. Appetizers include T-ravs, mozzarella sticks, stuffed bread sticks and wings, while the main event offers burgers and sandwiches. For those with a bigger appetite, go for the "Heavy Weight Champ" - 3.5 pounds of beef topped with six strips of bacon, cheddar-onion straws, cheddar and Monterey jack cheeses, lettuce, onions, pickles and tomato. Guests who can knock out this bad boy, along with an order of fries and a 22-ounce soda or beer, in 45 minutes, get the meal for free.
