Beat Back Katrina

Sunday, September 11; Schlafly Tap Room (2100 Locust Street)

In light of the hurricane devastation, four local bands -- Bourbon & Waterloo, Not Quite Nashville, Trailer Park Travoltas and Falling Martins -- are playing a benefit concert nicknamed "Beat Back Katrina" to raise money for victims of the disaster. Besides experiencing hours of good old-fashioned rocking, those in attendance will be able to purchase raffle tickets for prizes like dinner at Brandt's, rock & roll memorabilia or PGA-level golf lessons from Golf Galaxy. Also available at the show will be a compilation album released by Adelaide/ Stickhorse Records that features local faves Miles of Wire, Low Cycle Hum and Brain Regiment. Compiler Brian Mathus is asking people to write a check to either the Red Cross or St. Patrick's Center (a local organization that's raising money to help relocated New Orleans residents) in exchange for the disc.

Show starts at 4 p.m. Tickets are $5; call 314-241-2337 for more information.
