Matthew Rush is all over Faces

SAT 3/26

A few weeks back, the Night & Day Global Industries research team tipped you off to the Jillian Grace (that's Playboy Playmate Jillian Grace) appearances at various points around town, where Miss March 2005 would be autographing her issue. A nice outing for the fellas, indeed. In the spirit of fairness, we now alert all those fellas who love fellas to head over to Faces on Fourth Street to catch the appearance of Matthew Rush (pictured), winner of the coveted GAYVN "Newcomer of the Year" award in 2002 and highly successful gay porn star. And ladies, before you begin complaining that this isn't all that fair from your point of view, let us just point out that if you were a little more serious about your porn consumption, maybe the straight male strippers/porn actors would come to town with greater frequency. But you're not more assiduous in your porn-watching, and so the biggest straight porn star is Ron Jeremy -- see what you get when you half-step?

Mr. Rush, who's built like a Greek god above the waist (and is packing heat like Mike Hammer below the waist), presses the flesh at Faces (132 Collinsville Avenue, East St. Louis, Illinois; 618-271-7410 or www.facesnolimits .com) during the Diamond Dolls Drag Show. This Vegas-style show begins at 12:30 a.m. Doors open at 11 p.m., and the cover charge is $10 until midnight, when it becomes $15. So get there early, enjoy a few drinks, and have a good time. -- Paul Friswold

They're Gonna Win!

SAT 3/26

Loyal readers, you may think that Mr. Night and Ms. Day are far too fancy to go to the sixth annual Leather & Lace Dance at the Pacific Eagles Hall (707 West Congress Street, Pacific), but that's simply not true. Not only will Night & Day be there, but they will be competing in some of the dance's contests. All decked out in lace, Mr. Night will certainly have a chance to win the "Hot Buns" competition, while Ms. Day's leather ensemble is sure to score points in the "Sexy Dressed" contest. Join them and the members of the Freedom of Road Riders-Local 42 as everyone has fun competing, dancing and drinking -- beer's included in the $15-to-$25 admission price. For more information about the dance, which runs from 7 p.m. to midnight, call 636-586-4298 (but don't expect to know more about Night's & Day's outfits until Saturday night). -- Alison Sieloff

Teachers Make the Grade

Art students have one advantage over other students: The opportunity to critique the work of their teachers. Accounting students never get to review a professor's tax returns, but an art student can check out an instructor's work at a faculty exhibition. The students of the St. Louis Community College system (Forest Park, Florissant Valley and Meramec) and of the University of Missouri-St. Louis have just such an opportunity at the Colleagues III show, which showcases the work of instructors at all four institutions. The show opens with a free reception from 6:30 to 9 p.m. on Friday, March 25, at the St. Louis Community College-Meramec Art Gallery (11333 Big Bend Boulevard; 314-984-7632). The art remains on display through April 12. -- Paul Friswold

Salsa at Seven

Seasoned clubbers know it's as much fun to whoop it up in an old firehouse as it is to party in a club that used to be a church or a warehouse. Know what else is fun? Salsa (not the food, the style of dance). And because we love you, we're telling you where you can enjoy both firehouse festivities and sexy dancing: at Seven (the 3 a.m. club at 3221 Olive Street; 314-652-2369) every Friday night, including this Friday, March 25. The noche caliente begins at 9 p.m., and the cover's $7. Don't worry about not having a dance partner (or knowing how to salsa) -- plenty of nice young men will politely show you the ropes. Here's hoping they're wearing steel-toed boots (we wouldn't want anyone to go home with broken toes, now, would we?). -- Alison Sieloff
