TAKE FIVE, REALLY

Take Five lives up to its name, garnering five awards in the Excellence in Journalism competition put on by the Greater St. Louis Association of Black Journalists

Take Five really did Saturday, garnering five awards in the Excellence in Journalism competition put on by the Greater St. Louis Association of Black Journalists. Sylvester Brown's consistently good but sometimes hard-to-find monthly won for best editorial, best feature story, best political coverage, best print series and best column for newspapers with less than 100,000 circulation. Take Five is free and can be found at Streetside Records, bookstores and Progressive Emporium (6265 Delmar Blvd.), among other locations. In the over-100,000 circulation category, the daily paper of record received five awards, and the weekly you are reading received four (best news analysis, best political coverage, best editorial and best sports feature). If only there had been a "best political column" award — it would have been good to see just what that Mark Wilson guy over at the St. Louis American looks like.
