The Ginn Sisters

9 p.m. Thursday, July 20. Off Broadway (3509 Lemp Avenue)

If Tiffani and Brit Ginn (pronounced with a hard "g") aren't better known in alt-country circles, it might owe to their decidedly non-twangy names, or to Brit's flute. Just don't blame their sibling harmonies — which are as clean and clear as bluegrass (if not the Dixie Chicks; Tiffani should be sick of the Natalie Maines comparisons by now) — trenchantly Americana sound (scrappy drums, acoustic guitar, mandolin) or playful, punchy songwriting. On their new album, Blood Oranges, the Ginn Sisters sound like they'd be more at home on A Prarie Home Companion than in a roadhouse in their native Texas, but that's just the spare arrangements talking. They've been singing blues, Western swing, folk and country for twenty years, and their dedication to each other and their craft has finally begun to pay some sweet sonic dividends.
