The HotHouse Theatre Company presents previews of its latest production, Bonjour, La, Bonjour, tonight and tomorrow at the ArtLoft. The rest of the run continues through next weekend. Thursday-night performances are "Actors' Nights," when industry professionals may bring a photo or resume and get a half-price ticket. (see Performing Arts)

The St. Louis Black Repertory Company presents a production of Slave Narrative at the St. Louis Community College-Meramec Theatre. (see Performing Arts)

Sister Helen Prejean, author of Dead Man Walking, speaks at the annual meeting of the Missouri Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty. The meeting takes place at Grace United Methodist Church. (see Lectures)

Thursday/4
Comic Pete George opens for cerebral comedian Jake Johannsen in two shows tonight and tomorrow, with three shows on Saturday, at the Funny Bone Comedy Club-West Port Plaza. (see Performing Arts)

The Fontbonne College Fine Arts Department presents Lee Blessing's drama Eleemosynary (if you don't know what it means, look it up) through Saturday at the university's Studio Theatre. (see Performing Arts)

The St. Louis Blues take on the Toronto Maple Leafs tonight at Kiel Center. (see Sports)

Friday/5
The Cleveland Crunch comes to St. Louis to play the St. Louis Ambush at Kiel Center. Hey -- no team named after a candy bar comes into our town and kicks us around! (see Sports)

An Evening with Quentin Crisp, the famous wit, epigrammist and author, is the latest part of That Uppity Theatre Company's Alternate Currents/Direct Currents Series, at the St. Marcus Theatre through the weekend. (see Performing Arts)

Cowboy Mouth returns to St. Louis to perform at Mississippi Nights. (see Concerts)

Texas heads off Broadway as the Austin Lounge Lizards perform at the Off Broadway Nightclub. (see Concerts)

The Atrium Gallery hosts Retrospective: Painting, 25 Years, an exhibition of the current works of St. Louis artist Fredrick J. Nelson, alongside a historical view of the artist's career. (see Exhibit Openings)

Homage: An Exhibition of Work by the Friends and Former Students of Leon Hicks, a celebration of the career of the retiring Webster University professor, opens tonight at the Cecille R. Hunt Gallery on the Webster University campus. (see Exhibit Openings)

Ancient Glass from the Holy Land, a collection of 200 glass pieces from Israel dating from as far back as 2,000 years, is on display through July 8 at the St. Louis Art Museum in Forest Park. One important piece worth noting is the transparent bowl found in the Cave of the Letters with the Dead Sea Scrolls. (see Exhibit Openings)

Cry Havoc, a WWII drama about the nurses on Bataan (and perhaps the dogs of war), is performed this weekend and next by the Theatre Guild of Webster Groves. (see Performing Arts)

Saturday/6
The Missouri Rugby Football Union's spring season kicks off this weekend with the Hornets, Washington University, the Scorpions, the Royals, the Bombers and the Kansas City RFC playing today and the Sunday Morning RFC (the team to watch) and Principia playing tomorrow in matches behind the Jewel Box in Forest Park. Alligator recording artist Koko Taylor performs at Mississippi Nights. (See Concerts)

The Alexandra Ballet performs Les Sylphides, a "romantic reverie," with a couple of outstanding contemporary works at the Edison Theatre on the Washington University campus. (see Performing Arts)

Sugar Ray performs with Everlast and 2 Skinnee J's at the American Theatre. (see Concerts)

The Samples perform at Mississippi Nights. (see Concerts)
The Professional Bullriders Bud Light Cup Tour comes to Kiel Center. If you'd like to know what riding a bull is like, try sticking your head in a hardware-store paint-shaker for eight seconds -- it'll give you some idea of what those riders endure for glory. (see Sports)

Left Bank Books presents author Sue Miller, reading and signing her book While I Was Gone in the Culver Gallery of the Central Library. (see Literary Events)

The old maxim "The family that plays together stays together" proves true as daughter Alisa joins Mom and Dad (Vivian and Donald) to make up the Weilerstein Trio, performing as part of the UM-St. Louis Chamber Classics series at the Ethical Society. (see Concerts)

Susan McKeown and the Chanting House perform tonight at the Gargoyle Lounge in the Mallinckrodt Center on the Washington University campus. (see Concerts)

Professional Women's Home Offices Inc., a nonprofit organization helping women operate businesses out of their homes and gaining an advantage in the modern markets, hosts their Anniversary Celebration, a fundraising dinner and silent auction with guest speaker Debbye Turner, at the St. Louis Frontenac Hilton Hotel. The St. Louis Blues play the Calgary Flames tonight at Kiel Center. (see Sports)

After having to postpone his February appearance, Rabbi Robert P. Jacobs finally comes to Left Bank Books, reading and signing his biography, By Reason of Strength, tonight. (see Literary Events)
