If adults could earn badges through good deeds, today we could all achieve at least one whole badge, if not two, just by Dining out for Life. Let us explain: During this daylong fundraising event, various eateries around town donate a portion of each check to Saint Louis Effort for AIDS, a nonprofit that works to educate people about how to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS and provide support to those living with the disease. By merely dining at one of these participating restaurants, you are supporting the cause, which is great — definite brownie points there. But to truly do some good, you could choose to eat all three meals out at donating restaurants — and you could even throw some extra cash at the cause. Now, that's the way to earn the do-gooder badge of the year! The generous establishments, located all across the region, are too numerous to mention them all here, but include Pickles Deli (22 North Euclid Avenue; 314-361-3354), Villa Farotto (17417 Chesterfield Airport Road, Chesterfield; 636-519-0048), Niche (1831 Sidney Street; 314-773-7755), Nadoz Euro Bakery & Café (3701 Lindell Boulevard; 314-446-6800), Franco (1535 South Eighth Street; 314-436-2500) and Flaco's Cocina (8400 Delmar Boulevard, University City; 314-395-4343); for a full list and more information, visit www.diningoutforlife.com/stlouis.
