Everybody Cut Footloose

If ever there were a place where you could work off those Ted Drewes indulgences just by sitting around and watching other people exert themselves, it would be in the audience of the St. Louis Dance Festival Showcase, happening at Washington University's Edison Theatre (6445 Forsyth Boulevard). Alas, the annual festival isn't Weight Watchers, but it will be pretty magical, as far as the performances go. Over the course of three days, more than 30 companies and groups serve up their movement specialties, from the St. Louis Cultural Flamenco Society to Diva La Tap on Friday, Dances of India to Midwest Dance Theater on Saturday, and from the modern Coalescence Dance Company to Caston Ballet on Sunday (May 14 through 16). Tickets to individual shows cost $20 to $25, but you can attend all three dance concerts for $45, or two out of three for $30. To purchase tickets, call 314-534-1111 or visit www.metrotix.com. Friday and Saturday shows happen at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday's showcase begins at 3 p.m.
