Stronger Together

The perception of HIV-positive and AIDS infected persons has changed dramatically since the 1980s when the subject was simply too taboo to even discuss. The Gateway Men's Chorus and the Indianapolis Men's Chorus present a thoughtful and powerful concert that examines the scope of how HIV and AIDS has affected the gay and lesbian community called When We No Longer Touch: A Cycle of Songs for Survival. The concert originated in 1994, but conductor Dr. Jeffrey Carter felt it necessary to reexamine the songs and their messages for a more receptive era. The choruses perform separately during the first portion of the evening and they join together for the second half, signifying their unity in the fight against AIDS. When We No Longer Touch is performed at 8 p.m. at Washington University's 560 Music Center (560 Trinity Avenue). General admission is $20 to $25, and tickets can be purchased from www.gatewaymenschorus.org or by phone at 314-289-4169.
